This post is to show a comparison between game trade in values for Gamestop vs Hastings. I went to gamestop to trade in my Darksiders and Call of Duty Modern Warfare games. This is what Gamestop offered to give me for each game (store credit).

Gamestop trade in:
Darksiders- $10.00
COD Modern Warfare- $2.50
Total: $12.50

I went to Hastings and this is what they gave me (store credit).

Hastings trade in:
Darksiders-$21.00
COD Modern Warfare-$20.00
Total:$41.00

The game I wanted to buy was Dark Void. Gamestop wanted $26.99 used, and Hastings wanted $14.99 used. By going to Hastings I earned/saved a total of $40.50. Just thought I would pass this on to anyone who frequents Gamestop.

What's a Hastings?

And with such high trade in values, doesn't that make their used prices high as well though?

That's why the offers aren't as good at GameStop. They have 4,000 stores (just in the US) and Hastings doesn't. They're international and Hastings isn't. Why? Because GS is making a profit and Hastings isn't. Hastings will have great deals... until they go under.

First piece of advice. If you really want the best value for your used games, sell on eBay. Second piece of advice, don't buy Dark Void. Wow, you could have used that advice before you traded, huh?

I'm actually enjoying Dark Void. It only got average reviews, that's why I waited until I could pick it up for $15.00, but so far so good. For those of you not in the South (U.S.), Hastings does not just sell games. They are a movie rental store as well as a new and used book store. Half the store is books, comics and magazines, the other half is music and movies. The game section is nice and has new and used. They also sell merchandise like Star Wars figures etc. A cool place if you get a chance to go into one. Hastings has actually been around for about 40 years. Gamestop is good, I'm just saying it pays to shop around sometime.

Does anybody know what kinda values Gamefly has for trade-ins? It's quite dumb that there's two states where Legislature prevents online Gamefly trade-ins, Florida being one of them. =(
