(RUMOR) - Is Harmony of Despair the Next Castlevania Game?
Theres one thing nearly every proper Castlevania game since 1997 has had in common: Theyve all had a three- or four-word subtitle that makes little to no sense. So could "Harmony of Despair" be the latest in that grand tradition?
Siliconera reports that Konami has trademarked the title -- sans any reference to Castlevania -- in Europe. And although nothing about the trademark confirms that this is the early planning for a new Castlevania game, the title certainly fits in with the formula -- especially considering theres already been a Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. Its also worth noting that the latest handheld Castlevania, Order of Ecclesia, was also first revealed in both a U.S. Patent and Trademark filing and an early ESRB leak.
It would also explain what long-time Castlevania mastermind Koji Igarashi has been up to, considering the current Castlevania game in production -- Lords of Shadow -- doesnt have his involvement. With Lords of Shadow in the work for consoles, it wouldnt be a surprise if Konami also had a new handheld title in the series in the pipeline.
So could Harmony of Despair be a direct sequel to Harmony of Dissonance, the way Dawn of Sorrow was a sequel to Aria of Sorrow? Maybe, but keep in mind this is all just a lot of conjecture at the moment, so dont count on anything until (or unless) Konami makes any official announcements.
