Bruckheimer Talks Game Development
Famed movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer has become increasingly involved with videogames in recent years; hes working as a producer on the upcoming film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and started a game developer thats currently working on two games. But why the sudden interest in a new medium after having spent so many years as a producer in the film and TV business? He was asked that in an interview by HeyUGuys (via CVG) and he explained that he sees the differences between games and movies beginning to completely disappear over the next decade.
"I really believe in the next 10 years you wont be able to tell the difference between movies and games," he explained. "Games will be so realistic. They are a form of storytelling and we love to tell stories in movies and on television. We are about to actively seek some executives. Hopefully in the next six months well get started."
So perhaps Bruckheimer doesnt see moving into game development as being a major leap from film development. Steven Spielberg, another big name in the movie business, has also dabbled in videogames. Hes credited as the creator of the original Medal of Honor, and more recently he collaborated with EA on the Boom Blox games. With that in mind, maybe Bruckheimer could experience some success in the games industry. But before he can get to that, he has a major challenge ahead in seeing that Prince of Persia is well received when its released on May 28.
