(RUMOR) - EA Canada Making New SSX for 360
Last month, a number of domain name registrations surfaced that appeared to point to a looming revival of SSX, Electronic Arts’ arcade-styled snowboarding series. Now it sounds like this is indeed the case: Kotaku reports that EA Canada has been developing a new SSX title for the past two years, planned for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
This info comes from a source "familiar with development of the game," who says this new SSX will take the series "back to its roots." The source apparently did not specifically explain in what ways that’ll be, but the source did explain how the new SSX will be completely different from all past SSX games: it’ll feature controls similar to EA’s Skate franchise, with players flicking the right analog stick to perform tricks. This would make sense, considering the source also says much of the Skate team is behind this new SSX game’s development.
What’s still unclear is when this rumored new SSX would be planned for release, although previous rumors theorized it may be getting a reveal during the Spike TV VGAs, based on a very vague tease showing snowy mountains and a challenge to "take on the planet." Guess we’ll find out this Saturday.
