Atmel Releases USB Hub
Atmel announced today that it has released, AT43USB355, the industrys first full speed USB microcontroller with embedded hub for videogame accessories. The AT43USB355 is USB 1.1 compliant and is therefore suitable for Microsoft Xbox, PS 2, Nintendo GC and PC game peripheral controller applications. The AT43USB355 is extremely suitable for game controllers such as game pads, joysticks and racing wheels with force feedback that are increasingly being demanded by hardcore gamers. The USB hub provides easy connectivity to headsets used in multiplayer games or games with voice control, as well as any other USB device "Microsoft will move the video gaming industry to a higher level with the highly anticipated introduction of its Xbox console in November of this year," said Mahmoud Etemadi, Marketing Director for USB Products at Atmel Corporation.
