Kojima: MGS4 "possible" on Next Xbox
In early June, Konami will release the “Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection” for PS3, however, this collection of “Metal Gear Solid” titles will not be released on Xbox 360. On May 3, Konami’s Hideo Kojima detailed why the “Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection” won’t be released on Xbox 360 and shared there is a possibility that “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” sees release on the Next Xbox.
While speaking on his online radio show -- quotes translated via Kotaku, Hideo Kojima discussed why there will be no Xbox 360 release of “Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection.” In short, “Metal Gear Solid 4” simply cannot be released on Xbox 360 due to the game’s massive amount of data.
"Im sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isnt being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasnt gone on sale," Kojima stated. "To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous."
A co-host continued to note that if “Metal Gear Solid 4” were to release on Xbox 360, the game would require seven DVDs.
"I want to put it out [on the Xbox 360], but we wont be releasing it. If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then its not The Legacy Collection."
"When its the next [Xbox] console, maybe we can release it," added Kojima.
Those hoping to play “Metal Gear Solid 4” on an Xbox console may have their chance once the Xbox 720 sees release.
