Xbox One will play audio CDs, support DLNA and stream MP3s (sort of)
While the PlayStation 4 will not support audio CDs and DLNA, according to the FAQ released by Sony earlier this week, the Xbox One will support both, Penny Arcade Reports Ben Kuchera reports.
Microsoft says the system will be DLNA compatible and is currently being certified for the next-gen console. For MP3 playback, users will be able to stream to the Xbox One via Play To from the PC. Not the best solution but at least youll be able to get MP3s running in some way. Just dont expect to be able to import MP3s onto the console itself.
The PlayStation 4 wont support MP3s, but Sony is looking into that. Theyre taking feedback seriously and could bring those features into the PS4 via a future firmware update.
Forget the next-gen gaming war. It seems like the next-gen media war is heating up.
