For those of you who dont know who John C. Dvorak is..Hes the guy on TechTv, host of "Silicon Spin"...anyways...John Dvorak hates to be the first one to predict doom, but the buzz about the Microsoft Xbox has seriously waned. Should X stand for experimental over at Microsoft?COMMENTARY-- Whither Xbox? I hate to be the first one to predict doom, but the buzz about the Microsoft Xbox has seriously waned since the E3 trade show, where many game folks come to see the latest products. Its now starting to look as if the Xbox may not establish critical mass.Check out this interesting read!I initially had high hopes for Xbox, thinking that if Microsoft could keep the Xbox developers in a discreet skunk works or with the game division rather than turning them loose among the bored senior programmers and meddlesome senior executives, the Xbox could become a huge success. One emerging problem is the dearth of killer chase/adventure games based on thematic characters, such as Mario (Nintendo (news - web sites)), Sonic (Sega), and Coot (Sony). Perhaps Microsoft could turn Clippy into a lovable character. Hmmm, maybe not.
