Nivida Tops 2001 Stocks
Microsoft's hardware partner on the Xbox, Nvidia, has been named best performing stock of 2001. Shares of the company more than quadrupled for the year, making it the year's best performer in the Standard & Poor's 500 index. Nvidia opened the year at $16.50, and closed the year at an astounding $66.90. Nvidia reportedly grew earnings in the third quarter by 60% despite the worst-ever slump for the semiconductor industry. Analysts predict increased competition for Nvidia in 2002 which could threaten share prices, though the company is still expected to perform well.
This is great news from Nivida and the Microsoft Company. So Nivida ended the year on a good note....thanks to Xbox.
