Xbox Kicks PS2s Butt Online
When it comes to playing video games online, prepare to be taunted, teased and sometimes terrorized. How much you enjoy the experience will depend on which system you choose. Both Microsofts Xbox Live and Sonys Playstation2 Online add entertainment to their console, but from packaging to playing, one system is the clear winner. The first thing to notice when comparing the two new online gaming packages is the styles and devices of both. Microsoft, with its modern black and silver CD carrying case, is more interesting to unwrap. The case reveals setup CDs, a headset, and a key -- both of which plug right into the controller, which makes life easier when jumping around on the couch. As for Sony, it went with the basic, hard, plastic shell, a simple packaging style good for hanging on the store wall. But there arent too many surprises once you open up the package -- just a network adaptor. The setup for both PS2 Online and XBox Live is very easy -- just plug them in, punch in the code and before you know it, youre playing your favourite games against opponents from all over the world, who have also signed up for the service. Both offer, and recommend, a broadband connection. Sony offers dial-up connectivity -- something that would appeal to a vast number of high-speed phone-line service providers.
