VR-1 acquired by PCCW
The Japanese division of Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) has gotten their hands on VR-1 Entertainment, the games unit of US-based Circadence Corp. This deal was contracted to focus on making networked multiplayer titles for both the Asian and North American markets, which is what VR-1 Entertainment is famous for. Todd Bonner, president and CEO of PCCW Japan gave a few words about the acquisition of VR-1
"The acquisition of VR-1 will provide PCCW Japan with technology that will significantly enhance the Jaleco gaming business we acquired in August last year and position us to become a leading global player in network gaming. "We have exclusive rights to the entertainment applications of this technology and plan to leverage it as far as possible both within PCCW Japan and the broader PCCW group."
VR-1 Entertainment is a first-party developer for the Microsoft Xbox console, also a middleware tools partner with Sony for its PS2. They have as of right now, five titles in the works to be release in the next two years.
