(RUMOR) - New Battlefields For PS2, Xbox, PC?While rumors of Battlefield 1942's release on Xbox Live have cropped up once again of late, sources close to the franchise's development recently passed on news of more ambitious plans for its console debut. The word is that three different Battlefield titles are in the works, one each for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. These would be three different games, not ports of each other, although all three would be built around a modern warfare setting instead of the historical settings of Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam. All three titles would also feature the franchise's trademark online team combat, including the Xbox version. This new Xbox Battlefield would mark the settling of publisher Electronic Arts' dispute with Microsoft over Xbox Live. If EA and developer Digital Illusions (which owns the franchise) do go ahead with this plan, we'll likely see the games debut at E3 in May. We'll see just how ambitious the Battlefield franchise becomes over the next few months.
