60% of Xboxes are Modded ?
Fears are growing that piracy on the Xbox could spiral out of control, after an MCV investigation found that 60 per cent of hardcore Xbox gamers have had their machine chipped, while many go one step further and download emulators and games from the Internet. Comments gathered from hardcore gaming forums by MCV include: "I download 90 per cent of my games"; "I’ve been very impressed with what chipped Xboxes can do"; "I’m getting a chipped Xbox for emulation"; and "I bought my Xbox with the full intention of getting it chipped". "For the Xbox, the damage could be huge," Mike Rawlinson, deputy director general of ELSPA, told MCV. "The pirates in many cases follow the bundled model just like any High Street shop. Consumers can buy an Xbox with four games from the High Street or a modified Xbox with many hard disk-loaded games from the pirate. “The potential for buying new legitimate content is bound to be under serious pressure."Source: http://www.mcvuk.com/
