(RUMOR) - Will The Next Xbox Debut At CES 05?
Xbox 2 - you want it, we want it, everyone wants it, so it’s no surprise to find that the rumour mill has gone into overdrive on when Microsoft will finally unveil its next-generation successor to a salivating world. Some reasonably educated guesses have plumped for Microsoft’s annual X04 event, which is usually held in September, but with that event itself currently still floating under an ’unconfirmed’ status according to a Microsoft spokesperson, it does seem rather unlikely. However, now a new candidate for the Xbox Next’s unveiling has come forth, the Consumer Electronics Association Conference which will be held in Las Vegas from January 6-9. Why are we so suspicious? Well just today it has been confirmed that Microsoft head honcho Bill Gates will be one of the conference’s key note speakers on January 5. Big Bill certainly has some form in this area, having used CES to debut products like the Tablet PC and most crucially of all, the original Xbox itself, in the past. So will big Bill unveil the Xbox 2 to a waiting world at CES? Of course, we can’t say for certain, but the smart money seems to be shifting that way. Timing-wise it would be ideal for Microsoft, pre-empting both Nintendo’s E3 unveiling of the Revolution and probably stealing a march on any Sony PS3 announcement too. Xbox 2 at CES?
