California Passes A Game Ratings Law
Bill AB 1793, which was first introduced by Democrat assembly member Leland Yee, has been revised and has now been passed by the state senate in California. The bill requires that game ratings be clearly displayed and that information about the ESRB ratings system be readily available (and easily accessible) to parents purchasing games for their children. All that remains to be done is the signing of the bill into state law by Governor Arnold Schwarznegger. Yee, however, had some slight concerns about the Governors obvious ties to the entertainment industry affecting his decision to sign. "I am hopeful the Governor will keep his promise to protect Californias children and sign this legislation warning parents of video game content," said Yee.Source: http://www.gamedaily.com
