Järvilehto talks about Max Payne
VE had the chance to sit down with Petri Järvilehto, from Remedy Entertainment, at this years E3. Järvilehto talks about all the juicy details that went into the highly anticipated game Max Payne. Heres a small clip.
Voodoo Extreme - The demonstrations that you have been showing here at E3 are obviously far more concerned with gameplay, unlike last year. Can you describe some of the more innovative things you have done in this area? For instance, how does the slow motion work? How is that incorporated into the gameplay?Petri Järvilehto - Well, first of all we are calling it "Bullet Time" and it’s an effect that comes from "The Matrix" or similar movies. We’re tying the Bullet Time into some of the action modes so when you do a shoot-dodge with the weapon you are using some Bullet Time, but you also accumulate that from the combat when you are killing enemies. You get more and more Bullet Time that you can then toggle on and off when you are in an extremely difficult situation. You have the bullets flying in slow motion. You can even dodge the bullets sometimes.
