Interplay buyout buyer?
Chinese new media firm Pacific Century Cyber Works is looking to acquire US games firm Interplay according to MCVUk. Pacific Century who is headed up by entrepreneur Richard Li, is very interested in establishing themselves in the interactive entertainment industry. Earlier this Spring, Pacific Century had offered $25 a share in hopes of purchasing Activision before the company was able to get back on their feet, but Activision had already financially secured themselves.
Interplay, a part of the Titus Group, has been unhappy with their current position within the fold and in April the company secured more credit to prevent the French corporation from becoming the primary share holder. The main asset under Interplays belt would be none other than Shiny Entertainment who recently recieved a $5 million dollar advancement for development of the XBOX version of The Matrix. No specific information has been revealed regarding the cost of each share and/or how much is up for grabs.
