Ubisoft Announces Surfs Up For Xbox 360Prepare yourself for a tidal wave of surfing puns over the next few months as Ubisoft announced today it had secured the rights to create a game based on the Sony Pictures animated film Surfs Up. While the film catches the big wave on June 8, the videogame arrives two weeks earlier on May 22. "Ubisoft has the creative and technological abilities to develop a cutting-edge arcade surfing game based on Sony Pictures Animations new film, Surfs Up," said Mark Caplan, Vice President, Interactive at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. "Sonys partnership with Ubisoft has helped to expand our properties by creating fun interactive experiences beyond the movies while maintaining the creativity and artistic beauty of the films." "Ubisoft is excited to be developing an innovative, first-class surfing game based on all the cool characters from the Surfs Up movie. With its compelling storyline, sports dynamic and humor, the movie lends itself extremely well as a video game experience," said Tony Key, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft. "Keeping with its goal to secure strong partnerships and to be one of the leading developers of movie-based games, Ubisoft has worked closely with Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Consumer Products to develop a video game that captures the adventure and excitement from the movie." Set during the annual Reggie Belafonte Big Z Memorial Surf Off, Surfs Up offers ten playable characters from the upcoming feature film. As players compete to win the championship in this arcade surfing title, theyll experience the stellar waves around Pen Gu Island. Surfs Up features the voice talent from the movie. So look forward to hearing the totally tubular voices of Shia LaBeouf, Jeff Bridges, Zooey Deschanel, Lani Aliikai, Mario Cantone, Diedrich Bader and Sal Masekela.
