Xbox Live Prepares for Major Update
Xbox Live will be offline for maintenance for "up to 24 hours" beginning Monday, September 29 from 12:01 PST, according to Microsoft’s Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb.
On his blog, he added that the maintenance is "in preparation for the new Xbox experience which will be available later this fall."
The company announced at E3 in July the "New Xbox Experience," a free update for the Xbox 360 that will add a new overall look, customizable Avatars and additional community features.
Hryb made clear that immediately following the downtime, users shouldn’t expect the "New Xbox Experience" update to be live.
"When the service returns, you will not have any new features and you will not have the new Xbox experience update," he said.
