No NCAA Basketball this year from EA
In case you were wondering why March Madness is nearly upon us and theres still no word of an NCAA Basketball game from EA, its because there isnt going to be one this year -- maybe not even next year. EA Sports senior director of communications David Tinson relayed the news to Game Informer yesterday.
"We do not have an NCAA Basketball game in development at this time, and were currently reviewing the future of our NCAA Basketball business," Tinson explained. "This was a difficult decision, but we remain a committed partner to the NCAA and its member institutions."
The EA Sports spokesman also reassured Game Informer that, although there will be no NCAA Basketball release this year, the development team is in no danger of layoffs. According to Tinson, the developers are currently being shuffled around to the NBA Live and NBA Jam teams at EA Canada.
Now that both 2K Sports and, for the time being, EA have abandoned college basketball, whats a sports gamer to do? Play last years game? Watch basketball on TV? Go outside?! These are dark times, indeed.
