A Good Offense Is … A Good Offense
While the cover system is unique and very promising, the offensive systems have also been thoughtfully designed. With the right stick you can aim while behind cover by setting your crosshair over a target. Then jump up, pop a cap, and move on. It's not quite that easy, of course, as each rifle will kick and jump as you fire, but it's a cool aiming strategy. If you're not confident enough to stand up, use the blindfire option. By pressing fire while under cover, you'll reach around the obstacle to spray lead. It's not as accurate as aiming, but staying alive is a nice fringe benefit.
The AI has to be well tuned to prevent a turkey shoot, and so far everything looks great. Forces will steadily advance and take every opportunity to flank you and exploit blind spots. Grenades are a popular weapon among the CPU forces. Stay in one place too long, and you will die. More than once as I tried to snipe from behind a cargo container, at least one enemy would slip away and approach from my unguarded other side, and there's nothing like a backside full of bullets to get your attention.
