Why is getting GOLD medals so hard in Tony Hawk 3??
The three Competition level in Tony Hawk 3 are Rio, Skater Island and Tokyo.
So far I have silver in all three courses. I am having major problems getting gold. Its like you have to do a perfect performance and never fall or lose your trick meter.
Has anyone had these problems with getting gold or is it just me??
Its not. But I already told you how to do it.
Tokyo took me a little while, but the other 2 were easy.
set all your special moves on different special grinds, and just keep grinding and using manuals, with the occassional ramp trick (with revert, of course)
it is not too hard to get gold.
You need more than 100000 points in 2 runs for a gold in rio, 150000 points for the skater island, and about 200000 points in tokyo.
The easiest way to do this is to find a halfpipe, and do aerial tricks and revert link them together. An Aerial +revert to manual+aereal +revert to manual+liptrick should give you about 30000 to 80000 points.
So do this a few times.

I just try to start each heat with like a 100,000+ move. Usually like a wall ride ,double kickflip, manual grind, kickflip, special grind etc.......
If you can rack up like 200,000 points in the one minute run you score in the high 90's.

Maybe its just me. Ill go try again.
I usually get like a 60k move from the top power lines (railing). And then get to near 150k in rio. But I still end up with silver.
I haven't tried to get gold too much,... but I guess Ill try some more.
you got to switch up your moves cause repeating will hurt you score. does anyone know how to get the stat at las angles in the church thing i get on top of the building and can't get it and is there a hidden room in skater's island cause i can't find the last stat there either. there the only two i'm missing and since i've meet all the challegnes and all gold i'm trying to complete the game

and i got all stats, all goals, all golds with all of them...
juss bust of a trick of like 150 000 - 300 000
and then do it again with variations....

yea you have to grind the pirate flag...plus in rio or whatever, (the first compition level) there is a secret place...just go around the edges of the town and tehre will be like a broken board, you bust through it and thats where you get the new deck!Originally posted by dougi3000

you guys dont have to be jerks about it. The comps are not easy compared to other thpsers but they are quite doable once you get used to it. Just go around the park grinding and manulaling, make sure to include your special grinds and manuals. Soon enough youll be pulling out 300k+ moves and 99.9 runs.

I have never had any problems with THPS3´s competitions. You need to practise a little bit and you will soon get awesome points. I made my new personal record in rio 2min game last weekend. Best combo was 1,86 million points and a total score was 3,4 million. I am quite happy with that achievement. What kind of scores have you had? be honest
i think they are really easy.. .but here are some tips
on rio u can just keep grinding/manualling around the perimiter of the level.... not the COMPLETE perimiter... by perimiter i mean the edge just before the road starts... there is rails and ramps ALL THE WAY AROUND.. just keep doing special grinds and manuals. it is simple..
for skater island just grind and manual lots and whenver possible bust a good veryt trick and keep comboing.
for Tokyo there is a good line somewhere... cant really remember. sorry. keep looking for good lines.
it took me a while to get the gold too..
until i figured out how to bust out some beastly combos of wallriding and manualing then its pretty easy
