Overall: I know this is an old game but here is my review. Very fun basketball game. There are three modes to choose from which include exhibition, season and playoffs. This is more of an arcade style experience so if you want a simulation go for Live or ESPN.
Gameplay: Plays very well, players have amazing dunks and moves. Very good controls. The only problem I saw was that no players moved around to get open and the screens they gave you hardly ever worked because they only stand there for two seconds.
Graphics: Very nice graphics, the player models and stadiums look realistic. One thing I noticed was the fans, they are as this as paper. Xbox is capable of better.
Sound: The commentary is pretty good, the commentators don't repeat themselves that much. The fans react well to what is going on in the game.
Suggestions: You had something good going with Inside Drive, you should bring it back.

Overall: This game is pretty decent as far as basketball games go. Now, I know that there is a newer version out (which I have not played yet), so I'm sure that things are done better. But for this shot (which only retails here in Canada for $20), you can't go wrong. Good solid game.
Gameplay: Gameplay is good, but as some mentioned, sometimes it's hard to get a dunk instead of a layup. The game runs nice though and with unlockable codes and features such as classic teams, this game is def a keeper. I laughed my butt off when once one of the refs tripped Shaq, ROFL. I half expected him to jump up and deck him :)
Graphics: Visual was ok, but as some mentioned, as an X exclusive, M$ should have worked some more on the graphics. Now they aren't totally bad, but it's kinda what I would expect from a port or something.
Sound: Sound is good and I love the commentaries. Really helps set the mood for the game. There are times that inplay and end game commentaries have me in stiches "Man, they got beat so hard, like they just got caught stealin'" :)
Suggestions: Work on the graphics some more, use the box's power. A little more variation in commentaries and def more power moves 'n dunks :)

Overall: Nba Inside Drive Is microsofts first attempt at a basketball game. and its not half bad. with a little work, this game might be one of the superpowers in the basketball world.
Gameplay: the game is kinda flat. not many moves, and good looking dunkds are hard to perform, they layup every time. when your player gets on fire, he never misses. this game is very arcadey, but casual basketball fans might enjoy this game.
Graphics: this game is scary, player models are ok, faces could be better, but its so dark in the arena, microsoft must of forgot to put lights or something. for an xbox exclusive title, graphics should be the best of any basketball game.
Sound: the commentary is boring, and the sound affects are not as good as they could be, this game needs work.
Suggestions: work on everything.

Overall: This game is fun. The only problem is that there are to many of the same moves you do. The dunks are cool. This game doesn't have a lot to offer. It doesn't have create a player or any of that stuff. Its just really season and a quick game. Still, this game is great and you should get it.
Gameplay: The gameplay was good and easy. Very easy to get used to and great with multiplayer. The left thumbsitck gets you around and the other buttons are pass, shoot, ect. These are good controls
Graphics: The games on tonight! These are great graphics. Its like you are watching the gmae on tv and you can control all the nba superstars.
Sound: From the feet sqeaking on the floor and the ball thrusting through the net the sound is great with a special crisp to them.
Suggestions: Put a lot more extras inthe next game. This one doesn't have a lot to offer.

Overall: After playing the dissapointing NBA Live 2002 by EA Sports I set out to buy NBA Inside Drive 2002. I wasn't dissapointed as you will find out later in the review.
Gameplay: The gameplay of Inside Drive is awesome. I really do use that word to is supercalafrags!!!
Just play a game of Phoenix vs San Antonio and see what I mean. The AI is pretty good as well.
Graphics: When I heard 'Real Stadiums' I thought YAY!!! When I heard 'Moving Jumpers' I went YAY!!! Sadly, only the first one is true. In Inside Drive, if you are the Knicks, it really does feel like you are playing in Madison Square Garden, not just an arena with a NY Knicks logo slapped on it. The second one is a half-truth. They are crinkled, but they do not move. Add to that the horrible player models, and you have got yourself a pretty ugly game. In fact, the players belong more in Hunter:The Reckoning than in an NBA game.
Sound: LA LA LA! Oh, sorry! The sound in this game is just soooo addictive. No need to rip your own tracks, no option to either. But, I always watch the opening sequince just to listen to the music
Suggestions: Better player models is all I can say. Just, please don't fall into the trap Live did.

Overall: this is a very fun game. usually i don't like baskeball games but i played this one and really enjoyed it. i rented it once and played it at the calgary stampede once.
Gameplay: i think that the main reason that so many people like this game is the fact that it moves real fast. even my friends who hate basketball really enjoyed playing this game. i also like it because of the fact that the scores actually get up 2 realistic NBA scores
Graphics: the graphics are very good except for the occasional glitch. sometimes the players get fuzzy but most of the time the graphics are very crisp and clean.. the crowds could be a bit better though
Sound: the sound in this game is very good. when the home team is doing well the fans get very very loud just like in a real NBA game. the announcing is good and michael jordans commentary is also good
Suggestions: just update the rosters and don't be stupid like they did in nfl fever 2003 and make the game worse by slowing down the game play

Overall: It's a great game overall but you break down the different parts and it begins to dissapoint the die-hard basketball fans. But if you have an Xbox, and you love basketball, this is a must buy.
Gameplay: The game is very fast-paced. But at times it can be aggravating. It is impossible to set screens because everytime you press the button to call it, your guys get in position, then when you let go, he moves. Also it's hard to keep your stats consistent. For the Pacers, Reggie will hit 10 3-pointers one game, then be 0 for 15 the next. It gets on your nerves! There is also a lack of franchise mode which every sports junkie needs in their video games. Overall: Coming off the heels of the surprisingly impressive NFL Fever 2002, Microsoft's latest addition to their Xbox sports line, NBA Inside Drive 2002 had a lot to live up to. Developer High Voltage (the same developers behind the original PC version as well as Hunter: The Reckoning) had the experience to deliver an impressive basketball game - and indeed they have. In fact, NBA Inside Drive delivers a basketball game that's actually better than Sega's, and perhaps the best NBA game I've played since the days of the Sega Genesis. It might be a little lacking in the features department, but it has it where it counts - exceptional gameplay and outstanding visuals. Only a few nagging flaws exist, but they're ignored because the game is a blast to play, either by yourself or with friends.

Gameplay: NBA Inside Drive 2002 comes with only a few features - all you'll find is a basic exhibition, season, and playoff mode. There is no franchise mode, and no create a player either. Coming from the incredibly deep feature set of NFL Fever, this comes as a letdown, but all is forgiven once you sit down and start a season & start having fun. Before you know it, you're 30 games in and you're hooked to how great the gameplay is, which makes up for this lack of features 10-fold.

In the season mode, various things can take place - you can trade players, sign free agents, release players, and fool around with your starting lineups. Oddly, you are not allowed to make uneven trades - no 2 for 1 sales here, which is unfortunate given these kind of trades happen all the time. What's neat though, is during the season the CPU teams will offer trades of their own, and you can accept or reject them at your mercy. Also, players become injured, and can either be out until a particular date, or be the day-to-day sort and still play, even if they're hobbling around and their skills are depleted a tad.

NBA Inside Drive also has a full stat-tracking engine that's easy to understand and clean to look at - top 10 leaders in each category are there to look at, as are individual team statistics. Plus, you can view transactions and injuries for other teams. My only nagging complaint here is something that some basketball games do and some don't - if you set your quarters for 8 minutes (where you can realistically have a common 100 point scoring NBA game that feels like an actual game) the stat tracking is for 8 minutes with the CPU teams - which means they're averaging like 50 points a game and their leading scorer is putting in about 12 a night. Why not either make it default at 12 minute stat tracking, or give the option to track stats a particular way? It's not a big deal, but it looks funky when you're a stat junkie and you see all the awkward league leaders and such. It's the exact reason I got turned off from EA's NBA Live series...that and the slowly growing horrid gameplay.

Thankfully, the gameplay of NBA ID 2002 is something to cheer about. Not really a pure sim, or a true arcade game, ID manages to toe the line between arcade and sim, delivering a game that feels like a real NBA game, only with a slightly faster edge. The computer AI is pretty smart, even on rookie, giving you a pretty challenging game each time out.

Unlike a game such as NBA Live, where all you need to do is drive the lane and lay it in, or NBA 2Kx where you're almost forced to shoot from afar when against tougher competition, NBA ID is able to successfully mix in outside shooting with inside power basketball to create a great balance between play styles. Each NBA team is also different - some teams, like San Antonio, pound the ball inside at all times to their big men - while other teams like Dallas are prone to taking lots of 3-pointers and outside shots whenever they can.

Players and their skills actually vary throughout games, or depending on the opponent - playing as the Wizards, Michael Jordan sometimes had a game where he shot the lights out, and other times he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. This applies for most of the players as well. Also, there's no Shaq 3-pointers in NBA ID - all that will get is a smart remark from the announcers on how this guy certainly isn't their outside threat.

My beef on offense is how lackadaisical the other players are at hitting the boards - even after changing the settings to make the rebounding more aggressive, they're still a little passive about getting under the hoop and pulling the ball out. When it happens it's usually a big dunk, but this is few and far between.

Playing defense is a bit more of a chore. That same poor rebounding skill is also here, leading to way too many second chances. It's not as bad as the offensive rebounding, but it's not great either.

Meanwhile, just playing the defense is a challenge. Fouls are called a bit more frequently if you're aggressive than they'd call against the computer, and it seems like they can practically charge to the basket and score. However, this can be solved by actually playing defense. Like NBA 2Kx, playing defense is actually a useful tool, instead of something that's an afterthought. Learn how to guard and get in the offensive player's face, and the chances of them scoring is a bit less. The rebounding thing is tough to control, but if you use the icon player switch (mapping each player to a button on the Xbox controller) to get to your big men, it's possible to rack up more rebounds and thus be a better player.

Shooting free throws is a new process - instead of the weird (but effective) process used by Sega Sports or the T-meter of EA Sports, NBA ID uses a different standard entirely. Graphics: As you'd expect, NBA ID 2002 is a visual beauty, using all the power under the hood of the Xbox. Each player and their faces are accurately mapped, along with each of their trademark features - be it tattoos, headbands, wristbands, kneepads, the whole thing. It's to the point where you can identify players by their graphical design, without looking on the back of their jerseys for names & numbers.

The player animations were motion captured by NBA Inside Drive coverboy and NBA superstar Vince Carter. These are most present in the great dunking animations - for the most part every player moves the same. However there's tons of shooting animations too - all the players have their own free-throw animations as well. Visually it's one of the most realistic basketball games made, closely mirroring the real thing.

The courts are also implemented perfectly, each coming with their official name instead of ''Chicago Arena'' instead of United Center. Hey, they're Microsoft here, they can afford the cost of the name. The only odd thing is how dark the game feels - it reminds me of a WWF non-televised show where all the lights are on the ring and the rest of the arena is dark. It's not as bright as you'd expect in a basketball game, that's for sure.

Sound: Play By Play is done by Seattle Sonics announcer Kevin Calabro, and the color man is former NBA player Marques Johnson. The interaction between them is well done, and feels quite real, if not a little repetitive. MJ tries too hard to be funny, and comes off as a moron at times, but Calabro is genuinely entertaining and has multitudes of ways to describe ordinary situations.

During the games there's a few ambient sounds here and there - squeaking shoes, cheering and booing fans, and occasional blaring of music in timeouts or substitution, but that's it. Certainly less is more, and the pretty well done commentary makes up for it, since it is supposed to be the star of the audio show.

Overall: The game was awesome. The graphics are like a good beer, crisp, clean and refreshing. Not bad on the first try although......
Gameplay: Like every other sports game, exhibition, season, etc., controls were pretty easy to where friends just picked up a control and went at it. (note: friends who dont like the xbox, but liked the game...confusing huh?)
Graphics: Almost flawless, some players did not even look like themselves (Tony Parker for starters) but im sure those will be tweaked in id03.
Sound: Announcers a diverse group, mostly talking trash, but thats cool, everytime u think they're going to say the same thing they surprise with something new.
Suggestions: Franchise mode, create a player, some players look blah to their real life counterpart, shots, theirs a couple of places on the floor where i shoot (namely 3pointers) and its 99% sure to go in. NO MATTER WHO I SHO0T WITH.

Overall: NBA Inside Drive 2002 happens to be a sure fire hit in the basketball game market. The Gameplay is good, the controls are easy and simplistic, yet complex enough to perform crazy maneuvers, and the graphics and sound track are insane. If you are into sports games such as this one, or feel that you want one to be your first?this would definitely hit the right spot. Let?s just hope it?s not with an elbow.

Gameplay: One of the more impressive aspects about this game is the game play. Not only does the AI associate itself to passive and aggressive players, it also varies its strategy from team to team. So when you play a season, different teams will play more different than the last. Now when you play head to head against a human opponent(s), the game become a little harder. You have full control over every player that is on the screen, as long as they have the ball or the indicator under them. The game speed is nice and fast, which allows you to make incredible moves and feel like you are not slowing down. The free-throw shooting is different than other games, but easy to master. Inside Drive gives you a new scheme where you have 2 circles and an aiming point in that bar. Make the point mark both circles in the center, and you get yourself a point. Also, you?ll have tons of fun performing monster dunks, smooth lay-ups, cross fakes and just charging your opponent. It?s all fun and games till someone gets hurt though.

Graphics: Inside Drive manages to pull off incredible graphics at amazing speeds. The character modeling is great. And they also have a nice layer map for the face, which gives each player their own unique face. Jordan looks like Jordan, Ewing looks like Ewing and so on. Also, most of the players have a tattoo, which is actually shown in the game. The models move fluidly with realistic movement, which was modeled after Vince Carter. The Dunks and other moves were also modeled after him, which suppose to be around 50 dunks, but I only managed to pull off about 10 of them. The stadiums that you play in are unique in detail. When I say unique, each stadium looks like the actual one in each state division. But the courts themselves look average. I mean shiny wooden floor with reflections, transparent hop bases, and a stadium full of people. You also get a nice glare from the spotlights above when the starting line-up enters. The only problem that I have with this game is the framerate. At times, the framerate drops during game play. And no, it?s not the slow motion effect. Also, the player models are boxy-like when seen up close.

Sound: What good is a game without an excellent soundtrack? Inside Drives incorporates some nice in game and menu music to go along with the atmosphere. The announcers are also very interactive. They comment on your game and insult you when you suck. Believe me; it helps out if you are losing by 20 points. While in game, you will usually hear the player say something taunting like ?Yeah baby, in your face? or give commands out to other team members; which is cool. But I also like the fact that it?s not said often enough to kill the impact of it, and its also not loud enough to become annoying.

Overall: Before this game, I hadn't bought a basketball game in eight years (since NBA Jam). This game is a great balance of sim and arcade. It has a great deal of features, but what holds it back from true greatness is a lack of franchise mode and other bonus amenities found in NBA2k2. It gets a 5 from me, nonetheless, because it is one of my most played games.
Gameplay: Very smooth, very responsive. The on-the-fly play calling won it for me. The only qualm I have with the game play is that when you deke, sometimes the player will deke out of bounds and there is really nothing you can do about it. Much smoother than NBA2k2 in my opinion.
Graphics: The player models are great! I love being able to tell where Divac is just by glancing at the players. Everyone looks like their real-world counterparts. Fisher even wears a headband. ;-)
Sound: I'm not sure how a sports game can excel in sound. All the crowd noise, players talking, etc is there.
Suggestions: ID2003 looks like it will be gold from the reports I am reading. Keep adding bonus features!

Overall: The game is very good, and I'm growing sick of Xbox Addict's staff reviews. In all honesty I haven't read a good one yet, aside from the Halo review but hell, everyone loves Halo. It comes down to this and NBA 2k2(live sucked) to see what you like better, but if you don't feel like waiting you may want to give this a try. Rent it atleast if you are looking to buy a basketball game.

Gameplay: The most important part of any game: gameplay. Well, I like the default camera view although if you are used to NBA 2k2 or another basketball game. The one thing the reviewer was right about was the shotblocking, it's the best of any basketball game to date. Also, by holding down the L trigger you can box out which makes rebounding based on skill rather than just luck as it has been in the past. Yes it does play a little arcadey, but nothing to complain about- there is no true basketball SIM out there, atleast that I have seen. It's nothing less realistic than the 2k series. Stealing is pretty easy, which, in my perspective, makes it more fun. Typically I hate defense in any basketball game... atleast since Coack K for genesis, and this makes it kind of fun.

Graphics: This just makes me wonder how much of an idiot the staff reviewer is. Like Fever, these are the best graphics ever for the sport. Players don't have that shiny-fake look to them, at a glance they look like their real life counterparts, until you see them move at about 1.5x speed. Go over to ign and see what they think... 10.0 graphics. 2?... I don't think so, buddy. I don't get how some people look at graphics, some idiot who reviewed NFL Madden 2002 here said that it had graphics that "can't be touched" by NFL 2k2 or Fever... and Madden has the worst graphics out of the three of them! Some people just make me wonder...

Sound: The sound during gameplay could be better, but it serves its purpose. There are times there will be no sound when you see the players celebrate after an impressive move. (Such as no sound when the player claps their hands.) When you control the replay, there is no sound at all so it takes away from the excitement and emphasis of the controlled replay. Overall: This game is fun. It mixes the graphics of watching basketball on tv as well as the fun factor of the old school NBA JAM only better. This game is awesome. The commentary, the moves, the dunks, the trash talking keeps you on your toes. I completely recommend this game for anyone who likes gaming.
Gameplay: Gameplay is very easy to pick up on. The controls are pretty simple and if you have a bad memory of what you are doing then it reminds you before each game. So how easy is that?
Graphics: I am not sure how it can get much better. I mean it can't look like real life, but it is close. There are very few glitches in this game and no developer is perfect!
Sound: Sound is good, I love the intro song, and the commentary isn't bad, but after you are an addict you would like to hear them mix it up a little better, especially in the beginning of the game and at the end. During the game is cool, but the end post game talk could be different.
Suggestions: Make the next one even better! Add more commentary, like maybe different comments at the end of the games. And the introductions for the home teams and the all-stars I like to watch them if they are realistic!

Overall: I dont have NBA 2K2 yet (gimme a week or two!), but this is certainly the best basketball game I have ever played, on any platform! The players are modeled realistically, they move like actual basketball players. They look like actual basketball players. They think like actual basketball players. This game has never been 'not fun' to play.
Gameplay: This game is a lot of fun to play. To make sure real basketball players like it, I enlisted the help of the guys downstairs in my building who actually play basketball for my school. They loved it. They got this game for their Xbox the very next day!
Graphics: Very crisp, clean graphics. Just like NFL Fever, microsoft made a game just for Xbox, and gave it the best graphics that they could. I think a big reason other sports games dont look as good as NBA inside drive or NFL fever is that they were originally written for a lesser system. So I was excited to get NBA Inside Drive, and they certainly didnt let us down on the grpahics end of things!
Sound: Like I have said in a few other reviews, I think we are all sick of most Sprts games announcers. I think the next big jump will be in announcing, not in graphics. But minor quibbles with the announcers occasionally repeating themselves, this game has excellent sound.
Suggestions: Make it a little easier to intentionally foul someone, make the game a tad more raw. Still have the more realistic mode, but also have a mode where the game has a bit more of an edge, with easier intentional fouls, charges, etc. Otherwise, just keep up the good work!

Overall: NBA Inside Drive is a very good first year attempt. Already, the Inside Drive series is better than the NBA Live series. Calling plays on the fly with the D-pad makes it very easy to set up plays and score easily. A lack of features, however, does hurt this game. There is no street mode, no franchise, and no practice modes. This game is not as good as NBA2k2 but it is still a strong game overall.
Gameplay: Probably the best part of NBA Inside Drive is the gameplay. Contrary to the title, it's quite to get an inside drive. Motion captured dunks by Vince Carter are quite amazing. At first, you'll do about 3 different dunks. However, once you get on a hot streak with one of your players, that's when the "real" dunks are capable of being executed. The animation has it's ups and downs. Like when you recover the ball on a defensive rebound or a steal, your run sideways first then begin to go up. Kind of like a pre-determined course they must travel. However, the A.I. you are facing do not have a pre-determined course and it's almost impossible to get on an open break. The passing is one of my favorite features. If you are in the path of a pass, you will steal. If you are trying to pass around a guy, you'll lean to your side and pass it. The bit of sloppy animation won't bother you but it is a nuisance to see.
Graphics: Wrinkled jerseys and very detailed bodies and faces. Facial animations are also very nice. The crowd is almost like NBA2k's where it looks good from a far but very bad up close. Replays and cut-scenes are also nice.
Sound: This is where the game needs major improvement. Commentary sounds very advanced at first but by the time you reach the 3rd quarter, you'll probably hear everything the annoucers have recorded into the game. The sound of the basketball bouncing is also nothing like it sounds like in real life. There is no real sound when you hit the backboard or the rim bending when you dunk the ball. The shoes never squeak on the floor. Not the best audio in a basketball game.
Suggestions: Add a franchise mode, a practice mode, and either a street mode and/or a dunk contest. Add more commentary recordings and try to cut down the lag between recordings like "The...Wizards....have 12 steals so far." Get rid of those pre-determined courses too. If Steve Francis is at half court and Shaq is at the bottom of the court, he shouldn't be able to catch up to him. All in all a good game. Oh add some more Vince Carter dunks. I like those a lot. All in all a good first year try. Keep up the good work.

Overall: I think this game is great. The gameplay is realistic. Set at its highest difficulty offers a good challenge. It would probably be a better game than Sega's had this game had more options.
Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is good. Its very realistic in its highest difficuly setting. The passing set-up is good and the alley-oops are great.
Graphics: Visually this game is better than Sega's the players look real. Kobe looks like Kobe etc. Sega's just can't match Inside Drive. No jaggies present here, the benefits of not being a port!
Sound: The sound is mediocre. The crowd starts booing when you fall behind by more than 12 points. The announcers are repetitve and not very exciting.

Overall: I think this is a pretty good first effort for High Volatge. The Graphics are great, and the animations are smooth. My games are pretty fun to play, and it is pretty addicting!
Gameplay: The gameplay in Inside Drive is some of the best I have seen in a basketball game. The only thing someone could ask for is more modes, because there is only a Season, Playoff, and Exhibition. That might turn some people away, but because the game plays so great, you probably won't even care.
Graphics: Visually, the game is excellent. The player models are above average. Even the atadiums look great, and all look like there real counter-part. This has the graphics to challenge the 2k series.
Sound: Wow. The announcing in this game is probably the best that has ever been found in a baskterball game. They talk like they are actually watching the game together. Sometimes, the color man will be talking, and then the play by play will interupt, and when the play by play is finished, he'll say "I'm sorry, you were saying?". It's just great.
Suggestions: A franchise mode is always a nice addition to a sports game, and would fit nice in Inside Drive. Also, if it gets in, then a DPP like in NFL Fever would be cool to.

Overall: A truly great basketball game. Responsive controls, great gameplay, a really all around good title. The only thing it is lacking is online play, and a franchise mode
Gameplay: The gameplay is great. The controls are easy to pick up, and you want to finish all the way through the game.
Graphics: Best graphics I have seen for a basketball game to date. Everthing looks ultra realistic right down to little things like Allen Iversons arm bands, to Shaq's Superman tatoo.
Sound: Real good authentic quality sound. The announcers are good, they keeo up with the play, and actually make calls on what has transpired during the game.
Suggestions: Online play and franchise would make this the perfect title

Overall: NBA ID is a very solid basketball game for Xbox's initial first party bball game. They pretty much have everything right, but they are just missing the extra features that most basketball games out there have. Overall, it's a super solid first attempt at the basketball genre. They are right behind Sega's footsteps with their 2kx series.
Gameplay: The gameplay is almost perfect. Everything performs like it should, with several flaws like inconsistent rebounding, that could be easily fixed in the next installment. Basically, they have the framework done and just need polishing, and some extras.
Graphics: The graphics in NBAID are clean. I could recognize the players more easily in this game compared to any other basketball game out there today. Some of the animations can still use some work, but they are doing a good job of using the power of the xbox.
Sound: The sound in this game is comedy. When I first played it, the commentators seemed like comedians to me. I was laughing at what they said even when it was stupid and corny. Even the PA guy was saying some odd things, and not to mention that the commentators commented about it too. Yes, it was great quality fun, until it got repetitive. Also, the variable stuff is a bit noticeable. for example, the guy would say soemthing like... "24 points for...(pause for slight secoonight so far"
Suggestions: Fix all the kinks and issues
add franchise, dynasty, create a player, street ball modes to the bag and it'll be a true contender of sega's NBA 2K series.

Overall: This has to be one of the best NBA games for the Xbox Hands down i thank it will be better then NBA2k2 and NBA live.

Overall: The graphics are just awesome!. The animations looks great!!(specially the jumper and the fade aways)
I know, I know it doesn't have create a player and the other little stuff, so what!? It's all about the game play and ID 2002 does it perfectly. I recommand this game to every one who loves basketball.
Gameplay: The gameplay it just as real as it gets. If you play ID 2002 for the first time you will complain because every time you try to dunk with 3 or 2 guys defending you, you will missed it 8/10 times. But that's how it is in real life. No matter how good Vince is at dunking he will surely miss a dunk with Shaq and Horry in the pain or get blocked.
If you really want to dunk really nasty, you must learn the "playbook" of each team. And master the iso plays, it will lead you to eye candy dunks.
The down side of the gameplay is that, you cannot post your defender too far from the pain area. The crossover is good but doesn't work as well as 2k2.
Graphics: Finally!!! A game that made Kobe look like Kobe.
Grapically, this game is the best looking game in any console.
( But I wonder why Carter doesn't look like Carter...)
Sound: The overall sound it's great and the FX are sweet too. One thing I don't like about the sound,is that the voice of the players are like preschool students. It is ot a big deal, but it made me wondering "why?"

Overall: I loved the graphics. The face visuals were incredible I could recognize everybody. This is the first basketball game I have played besides the 2k series that was addicting. I just wished it had street mode,3 point shoot-out,dunk contest,free throw practice, and create players,teams,etc. but still a solid game
Gameplay: Plays very well I think. I think you should be able to steal the ball while on the run more and alley oops should be easier to do. Also sometimes a player will move really fast in postion like he glitches because he isn't moving really but it doesnt mess up the game. Defense is also way to good. When I'm Vince Carter and I'm one-on-one I should be able to spin past but when I spin away the defender is still right in front of me. Blocked shots look good.
Graphics: AWeSOME! I didn't give it a five because the bodies don't all look that great. Faces though are great. I also love how you even put the exact tattos on them. Stadiums and fans look great too.
Sound: Announcers are good the keep up with gameplay and aren't way behind the play like most other sports games. They make me laugh alot to but somethings they say are annoying and stupid. Like some things MJ says are just plain stupid. Also when the say a players name sometimes It takes a brief pause to say it. It is kool how they say players birthdays too.
Suggestions: Add 3 point mode,street mode,free throw practice,dunk contest, create a player,team,etc.fix body graphics a bit and work on announcers lines some and i will definatey buy NBA ID: 2003!

Overall: The best NBA game out for any console right now. The graphics and gameplay are unmatched. The only problems I have are that the blocks are a little too easy to come by and they left out alot of the extras that made NBA Live such a great game.
This is still a must buy.
Gameplay: You control everything. You have to box out your man by using the left trigger and timing the rebound takes practice. On the offensive side, using the left trigger allows you to post up and there are many great moves you can do in the post if your player has a high post rating.

Graphics: The graphics are unmatched. This really uses the X-Box power to make almost life like players. From a distance, it looks like a real NBA game.
Sound: You can tell they put alot of work in to it, but it can get a little corny at times. It is different from most games though, which is cool.
Suggestions: Please add all the extras possible, franchise mode, street ball, in depth user stats, records, 3 point contest...etc...the more the better.

You can block shots too easy, that needs to be adjusted.

Alot of the players are not rated well. Please allow the consumer to adjust the players ratings to how he sees fit.

Allow each user to change their controller settings to their liking.

Overall: Really cool basketball game, good graphics, fast spped game. Better than 2k2? thats the question you must find...
Gameplay: The game its really cool, you can call a play in your play book in defence or offence. It very reallistic.
Graphics: The player actually look like them self. Every arena it as same as real. The graphics are the best part of this game.
Sound: One cool thing I notice. Its that when you are playing a season and a player get injured, the comentarist say thing like... "It look bad he will be in the bench for a long time" or "He looks ok, he can sill playing this game"

Overall: Its a fun game to play, but it really REALLY lacks the depth to keep me as into it as i am in NFL FEVER, microsofts football game. i was surprised to see that ID2002 had no franchise, no create a player, pretty much the same options i would expect on my sega genesis were what i got in this game
Gameplay: like most games its really fun, reminds me of the nba2k2 type of play. pretty much the basketball version of nfl fever, more fast paced and arcadey than most basketball games, and running plays is used more to get guys open
Graphics: its xbox, what do you expect? graphics are great, but the hands i think could use work it doesnt look like the fingers are each moving individually u can see this when they zoom in on a guy. otherwise from the camera angle you get playing the game the players look great
Sound: i dont really pay attention to the announcers because i just assume its not as interesting as my music, but from what i heard the most common saying is "Sorry MJ" when one commentator interrupts another. there is some pasuing between a saying and a player name, but not as much as i expected
Suggestions: i never get sick of sports game because i always will get a craving to play it again, but the options in this game really test that for me. first of all i cant create players, one of my favorite options, and most importantly, there is NO FRANCHISE MODE. what am i supposed to do after i put hours upon hours into a season and finish it? start another season and have nothing to show? this SERIOSLY needs to be added next year or im not gonna buy ID2003. the only reason this was a buy was because nba2k2 is gonnna come out way to late and i cant wait that long, but microsoft really needs to put the effort into options in ID2002 the way it did for fever2002 because i still play that game because theres always something to shoot for with tons of seasons playing off each other and historical marks like the hall of fame and records to shoot for

****one thing that doesnt bug me if not included but gets me REALLY excited is when in franchise mode when they have drafts you are able to read about strengths and weaknesses and things like that instead of just inferring that from numerical stats-just a thought cause that adds multiple hours to drafting just reading those looking for a guy with more potential and raw or instead a polished guy whos not gonna get much better*****

Overall: For the first of this series to hit the Xbox it is an incredibly playable and enjoyable basketball experience. I for one dont delve into Franchise mode or create a player, but I feel it should have been included. This appears to be a big issue with lot's of game buyer's.
Gameplay: The game play is great. The play is so fluid and the animations are very well done. The buttons respond well to the touch. Shooting outside,taking it to the hole,rejecting a big shot it is all in there. When playing against a friend,when shooting free throws, the player not shooting can cause the shooting players controller to vibrate,as a distraction....kinda cool.
Graphics: Graphically, the game is far from a disappointment. It lives up to it's hype, It appears some of the faces are,right on, and others require some imagination. The arenas are greatly detailed an visually appealing. Fans appear a little flat. You will love the overall look.
Sound: The sound is very good. I usually turn off commentators, but the duo commentating weren't doing a bad job at all. But it sucks me into the game far more with the game sounds.Good sound, crowd repspone is nice.

Overall: The graphics and sound is excellent. The game plays fluidly. You can adjuct the frequency of the replays and cut scenes. Both the offensive and defensive AI is spectacular. I could do without franchise mode but MS should have added a create a player feature
Gameplay: Because the AI is so good this game is fun to play. Many of the games I played were decided on a last second shot. I can't say enough about how good the AI of this game is.
Graphics: I don't like to buy ported Xbox games if I can help it. This game was make to take advantage of the Xbox and the visuals are very good.
Sound: Some have critized the sound but after playing other sports games, I find the play by play and sound effects really add another dimension to the game.
Suggestions: Two suggestions for next year. Add create a player and franchise mode.

Overall: This game is definitely worth
purchasing. I only gave it a 4 out
of 5 because it lacks depth. There
is no Franchise and I have yet to
see where you can create a
player. Nor does it have a practice
arena, like NFL Fever, where you
can brush-up on your skills or see
the dunks. Hopefully there are
codes where some of these
things can be unlocked, but it
should be a given in normal
Gameplay: Game play is fluid. I hadn't had
any frames skip in the few hours
that I played it. As smooth as the
players are, you would think this
would be a problem but the XBOX
processor seems to handle it with
no problems.
Graphics: I am a huge NBA fan so I know
what most of the players look like
in real life. I can tell who most of
the 3D rendered players are
without checking the names. They
did an extremely good job on the
modeling of the players and payed
great attention to detail.
Sound: The sound during gameplay could
be better, but it serves its purpose.
There are times there will be no
sound when you see the players
celebrate after an impressive
move. (Such as no sound when
the player claps their hands.)
When you control the replay, there
is no sound at all so it takes away
from the excitement and
emphasis of the controlled replay.
The music for the game was done
well. Nice soundtrack.
Suggestions: Need to be able to create teams
and players, have a franchise
mode, practice arena. Microsoft
hit it on the nose with NFL Fever
so I'm not sure why it wasn't
included in Inside Drive. Also
have a section where you can play
street ball. People may not
always want to play a regular
exhibition game or season. It
would break up the monotony. 3
point shoot-outs are always fun
and add a dunk contest. I know,
that's just wishful thinking.
