    Default Thread deletion

I have a thread deletion concern. Two threads that I was interested in reading replies on have been deleted in the last 2 days. One of these threads was a thread that I personally started. There was no notification that the thread was deleted or moved. I would expect that at least the thread creator would be notified that their thread was removed and why. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Would that thread by anymeans be the racist one?

This is Xbox, not some other sorry ass chat room junior!
If your gonna make thread topics, make it approriate.
    Bottom line.
And no email notice is needed.
    Have a nice day!

btw, here's a couple topics to get your threads deleted:

Racist, flaming or bashing other members or sites, & sexual...well. ...unless it's "babe thread 2".. a classic thread I might add located in the off topic lounge!

    Default Actually, no...

Thank you for your prompt reply. The first of the two was the racism related thread (not started by me). The second was an inquiry asking if the original had been deleted or moved. An automated e-mail notifying persons subscribed to a thread that it was deleted would help alleviate this confusion. I fail to see how deleting a thread asking if another thread had been deleted would not result in yet a third thread being started (this thread to be specific).

I respectfully disagree that an e-mail is not needed. It is obvious that thread changes are an important thing to know about since there is an automated system for notification of new posts to a subscribed thread. Why is thread deletion not part of this automated system? It would, in my opinion, clear up some of the confusion.

Default I agree, but consider this...

Yes. I agree that life should go on. However, if I post a thread and it is deleted because it is inappropriate, then I should be told "why" it was inappropriate. Otherwise, I am likely to do it again.

It actually happened yesterday. PXO and I started to get a little heated and I went to see what he posted, and the forum was closed. I know that I hit him where it hurts by pulling out a "yo mama" joke, but my post wasn't that bad. I got an email saying that someone responded, went to see the post, and it was gone. So I guess PXO vented a lil more than needed.

Kinda strange, but I had a similar thing happen yesterday...

I posted some stuff on here when I got home from work and my post count was 218. Then I went to eat dinner, watched the tape of Sunday night's X-Files, called some friends who I THOUGHT I was going to hang out with last night, then signed back on around midnight. I posted something and when it took me to my post, my count was 215. I lost FOUR posts last night, all from thread deletions. I didn't post anything bad though, but I guess the other people had...

    Alien ..

To answer all of your questions, here is a simple guide:

Why has my post been deleted?

If your post was deleted, you have either posted somthing inappropriate (Porn, Spam, Too Much Swearing) or you have started a discussion which has occured many times before (GTA3).

It may even be your post was moved to the appropriate forum, in which case, it still exists. Just make sure to NOT post everything up in the General Discussion Forum, and you should be fine.

Why has my post count dropped?

If a thread is removed, so are all of the posts that it contained. Sometimes, one person will post something inappropriate in a Thread, so we will delete some of the messages within it. If your post makes reference/quotes/addresses the inappropriate one, yours will also be removed, to retain the normal flow of the Thread.

Why don't you notify about a thread being deleted?

If you did somthing MAJORLY wrong, you will be contacted and be delt with. As long as you are posting appropriate things you should be fine. Our major gripes as Moderators are: Repetitive Threads, Games being discussed in the General Discussion forum, and of course, GTA3 Threads.

    Why are you a cow?

Huh? Wait... you didn't ask this one....

I think the latter is what happened to my posts last night... I didn't start any of the threads, but I posted in threads that were old news, and one of them was a fanboy bashing Xbox in General Discussion (which I asked, very politely, to be taken to the appropriate forum). Well, I noticed he'd posted the SAME thread in Xbox V. PS2 board, so I guess the one I posted in was deleted.

    Tanx for the info!
