    Question cleaning the xbox?

Mine seems to get dusty pretty fast. I think I read that you should use a dry towel to dust it, but I am using a dry cloth and the dust doesn't really come off that good. So is it ok to use a damp towel to dust the top of the xbox? And there is also dust along and between the slits on the side of the xbox for the air intake. Dunno really what I should use to get the dust between them. Any tips are welcome!

Btw, is it ok to have my xbox sitting on a towel? I read some where you should not have it sitting on the carpet, and a towel is fairly similar, I guess. I dont think its blocking any air vents unless there are some on the bottom or something....

You can try some qtips to clean between the grooves.

I don't see any problems being on a towel, hell mines in the NAKI G-Pak ALL the time (material is very similar to that type of fabric) at home and on the road....

I would recommend the case to anyone (best on the market) and it will also keep your box nice and clean

thanks drunktank, I'm gonna have to get one of those G-packs... I checked ebgames.com and they call them X-packs, dunno if there is a difference. Still wondering if I could use a damp towel for the top though...

Oh, and shaggy, I'll definitley try out your idea!

    Damp cloth should be fine......

I have seen that case called the x and/or the G pak, as long as it's made by NAKI, you should be safe. (It's the only case made right now that your safely able to play while still in the case...

I also keep my Xbox in the X-Pak all the time...its great because of the openings for the fans. I wouldn''t worry. The only thing I could think of is that carpet or a towel would trap the heat because thats just what it does, but really the Xbox is designed to be hot and as long as you dont block the fans you should be fine.

Instead of damp towel, use rubbing alcohol on a towel or something. The alcohol will evaporate quickly and help you get the dust off. Alcohol is what most electronic cleaners are based on.

thanks for the replies. K, I'm gonna get the G/X-pack ASAP. I have one question about it though, the sides that open up for the air vents, do they fully open up to the size of the whole air vent? or is it only a portion of the side that opens up? And the back, does it open up fully so there is nothing blocking the exhaust fan? You see, I recentley had a problem with cooling on the last PC I built, so I'm really picky when it comes to keeping my electronic stuff cool. I'm constantley feeling the sides and the air coming out of the exhaust fan on my xbox to make sure its not too hot... hehe

    thanks again!

There is actually an opening in a sense that there is a hole in the fabric, you dont have to opening anything yourself on the sides. There is a criss cross of rugid plastic tire like material. It is very strong so dont worry about it ripping or anything. The back where the fan is fully opens because of the connections. Naki is an excellent company, and they made the best case, ever! High quality material, and this is one heavy duty case and you should not worry anbout anything when you buy this case.

You can investigate it before you buy, it isint attached ot the box in anyway. It easilly pulls out so you can inspect it for errors and open it up and such.

OK! no G-paks and no towels! just take the box that your xbox came in and and put your xbox on top of that! (i have a super nintendo box under my xbox. never gets dusty and never overheats!)
