Question for alchemists (potions)

I've been playing for nearly 10 hours now and I'm still level 1. The game is fantastic, but I can't help but thinking that I'm not progressing my character as fast as normal.

Two questions:

1.What exactly do you have to do to level?

2. What equipment do you need to mix plants and stuff for potions?

1. eat different ingredience and succesfully creat a potion

2. the only equipment u need is a morder and pestal but there are 3 other things that will improve your potions . . .


BTW if u go to the stats menu and highlight your alcemy skill u can see the progress toward a level up of that skill (in the form of x/100 ). . . . u can do this off all your skills too
