Yeah, i know "What the hell is he talking about". Well this stems from the "Canadiens Beware" thread.
With video games reaching all time highs in sales, you know someone is going to take notice. Usually the wrong someone.
With content becoming more questionable all the watchdog groups are probably salivating with the notion of a new crusade.
I'm a parent, and i keep a watchfull eye on what my kids watch and see. But i'll be damned if someone is going to tell me what i can and can't play. Actually, read, listen to, and watch.
Do these stimuli produce disfunctional people?? Hey i know someone who wigs out when he hears Lionel Ritchie, why don't they ban his music??
The porn reference is that, we all know it's out there and the masses just pretend it doesn't exist, even though someone is buying this material, because if no one was they would dissapear.
Will these so called questionable games become the same thing, they will be out there and may be diffcult to get, but you still will.
Our so called "Moral" society still with all it's regulations and such, made Grand Theft Auto III a almost cult following, and you needed a parent to buy it, so people who is really to blame, and is the government sayuing we just aren't doing a good enough job on our own so we will decide for you.
So is the system ok the way it is, a rating on the box and parental consent.
Or does the government really need to get more involved.
I vote for freedom of choice.
