I have never pre-ordered a game and I have never failed to find a game on launch day. Hardware is different, I would bet that if you don't preorder a Live kit, you will be out of luck. I will bet that Halo 2 will not sell out or any other game between now and then. That's not to say that one store won't sell out but there won't be an issue involving looking all over the city and not being able to find a single copy.
