directx question

I think xbox has directx 8.. right?
so how will it be in the future when pcgames that supports higher directx versions will be ported to xbox?
is it still possible..?

That is a good question. I don't think we have to worry though. Most game developers haven't even taken full advantage of half the stuff in DX7 yet and they are just starting to tap into DX8. DX9 is already being beta tested and will be out very soon for the pc but nothing will take advantage of it for at least another year. Whether you can patch the xbox to take advantage is still unknown but I think for stuff like directx it has to be coded into the hardware. I think that there is A LOT of potential in the xbox as it is and hope developers try and harness that power in their game designs.

The XBOX already runs on a different version of DirectX than PCs. I think you'll find in the future that PC games will become ports of XBOX games instead of the other way around.
