AV Jacks?

is there 3 or 4 av jack cords? some say red yellow and white but some also say theres a black one too what gives???

you are probably talking about the s-video cable. the yellow one is video and the red and white are sound(left and right channel/stereo or mono) the black one you are talking about is probably something called an s-video cable, which would take the place of the yellow cord. it is just a step up from the yellow cord. not a necessity.
