Thread: Xbox and Cambride Soundworks hook up?

  1. #1

Default Xbox and Cambride Soundworks hook up?

I just got my xbox and im trying to hook the dolby digital output into my digital input on my Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 speakers.

I have looked into the advanced and HDTV adapter, but both have Fiber optical cable outputs, my reciver has the single rca coaxial digtial input.

    1. Does the dolby signal also travel through the standard Left and right RCA output? If so, I believe i could get a "Y" for the left and right RCA's and bridge them into the single digital input on my speakers.

    2. Does anyone know of a adapter coming out for the singal coaxial dolby input.

Ive searched and found a fiber optic to coaxial converter but its 25 bucks, i would also need the advanced AV adapter and a 30 dollar fiber optic cable for this to work and that is a little for than i want to spend (75.00).

    1) No, it only travels through the optical out.

Your only option is what you found, a coax-optical converter.

You can save some money on the optical cable by purchasing a 6' one from Target. I think I've seen it there for $12 by RCA.

DD sound on the XBOX is definately worth it though.
