XBOX hard drive

I was told that it is possible to remove the hard drive that is in the xbox and put in a much larger one so that when you go and rent games you can just burn the games or some how transfer the games onto the larger hard drive so you can play them any time. is this possibe? if so, what do i need and how do i do it?
