    Default Best Platformers?

Well....I just thought about it and I realized that I really miss the old-school platformer type games! Classics like Mario, andDonkey Kong..etc etc, and that I'd been missing out on all of the next-gen platformers for Xbox. The only game in the genre I'd played was Oddworld, Muches Oddessy....which I LOVED...but that was about 3 years ago. With the new game Psychonauts (whicH I don't know much about) looking like a platformer and getting such high reviews, I figured it was time to look back into it.

So, what are you fav Platformers for the Xbox

Hmm...I played a demo and it was fun, but seemed more like a kiddy shooter to me. Perhaps I was wrong though. But are their any true to the genre platformers out there, with alot of jumping, skipping, do uble ju mping and wall climbing?

Metal Arms is a 3rd person shooter. While the robot-theme may seem kid friendly, trust me on this one: it's a great game and is more challenging than any other shooter on xbox.

Unfortunately, the Xbox doesn't see too many platfrmers, much less good ones. The spongebob games were pretty good. I'd also recommend Beyond Good & Evil, it's actually one of the best games to ever come out for Xbox, but no one bought it because they're tools who won't play games that aren't military themed. :P

Anyway, if you have a PS2 then I also recommend the Sly Cooper games. They are excellent.

Dr Muto a $10 special. Voodoo Vince for sure. I really like both of those. Both classic platformers.

Metal Arms isn't really a platformer. It's more of an FPS with an over the shoulder perspective.
Vexx and Voodoo Vince and I-Ninja are the best of this bunch:

    1. Vexx 2. Voodoo Vince 3. I-Ninja 4. The Incredibles 5. Crash Bandicoot games 6. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger games 7. Tak games. 8. Dr. Muto 9. Whiplash 10. Super Pacman World 11. Malice 12. The Spongebob games.

No. The original Mario is a good example of a platformer. Generally games that require extensive jumping and searching are "platformers". Mega Man is another example.

Thanks for all the helpful advice...I recall playing a Vexx demo ages ago, and it was pretty damn fun. I may just check it out heh.

i bought the megaman classics disc a few weeks ago and it's great, brings back a lot of memories.

i have to agree with studioalex, beyond good & evil was a great game, and it's less than $20, if you have the time and the money you guys should look into it. one the better games for xbox and it was overlooked by a lot of people i think.

psychonauts looks great, i'm definetly picking this one up. i think i might trade in doom 3 to get it...

Otogi (1&2) is a platformer right?

If that is the case it would be way up there, that game is great.

I never really played Metal Arms but I think I'll get it now. BG&E was supposed to be good too. I need some cheap games to broaden the library anyway.

If you have a Gamecube, go against your gut feeling and pick up Super Mario Sunshine. It was a really great game that I enjoyed. It felt like Mario 64 but not as classic. It's a great game and pretty cheap nowadays. Otherwise, pick up Psyconauts or Vexx.

Gary Coleman - "You were telling a black joke weren't you?"
Princeton - "Well sure Gary Coleman, lots of people tell black jokes!"
    Gary Coleman - "I don't!"
Princeton - "Well of course you dont. Your black. But I bet you tell Polack jokes right?"
Gary Coleman - "Sure I do! Those stupid Polacks! HAHAHAHAHA!"
Princeton - "Now isn't that a little bit rascist?"
Gary Coleman - "Damn... I guess your right!"
