help with wireless connection

well, i get free wireless at my house and i was wondering how i would get that connection to my xbox so i could play xbox live.

can i get an adapter that i can connect other things to, such as desktop computers with lan cards but no wifi card??

and how do i know if the wireless adapter is compatable with the wifi system im using?
