This is also a 2.5" Laptop HDD which are generally more expensive, and from what I read on another site, it's supposed to be a very high speed drive. Still not worth the $100, but that price will probably help them sell more of the premium bundles. MS seems to be trying to make back a lot of their production cost losses on accessories, which I think they're going to do well on.
Selling the HDD for $100 is Microsofts way of saying "Buy the $400 package. We're going to rip you off in the future in having to purchase a $100 HDD anyways."

Exactly, I think that's one of the main reasons they're doing it because when people see that then they'll want to go ahead and get the $400 package in case they want to get a HDD in the future.Originally Posted by Double_Diablo

Now now, let us not wander down the deep, dark paths of evilhood.
I'm going to buy the $400 Xbox 360 mainly for 3 reasons, A) I want to be able to play all my old xbox games, B) i'd be a lot more cost effective since you need $40 memory cards if you get the $300 one, and C) to play games like Oblivion, an HD isn't necessary, but Bethesda reccomends that you do if you can afford it.
