Terrible rumor

Some dumbass GC fanboy posted that the Xbox is not coming out until mid 2002 and that stores were taking down their promotional stuff. I know that he's a dumbass GC fanboy, but is there any truth in this?

There is only a partial truth to this.....

Back when the PS2 launch occurred, Sony was trying it's hardest to push every single PS2 that they could on their customers. According to a large number of retailers, Sony was threatening retailers with reduced PS2 shipments if they continued to put X-Box related materials, ads and literature in their stores & on display. This is the ONLY reason retailers took down the X-Box marketing material.

The Xbox delayed? Tell that to the all of the game retailers here. Every store has got their Xbox displays up and are taking pre-orders.

do any of u think there is a chance it will come out early and/or cheaper? i only say this because of the rumors and remember the xbox.com site with the empty vile at the top? maybe that will be used to annouce the new date or price?
