Flinging white paint onto a black background made the spots too large.

Get you a stiff toothbrush with the longest bristles you can. Get one with the bristles that point different directions too if possible.

A lot of this is just experimenting so try different things on something besides the faceplate, first.

Different paints that are think or thin give different results, too. And I keep the brush back a ways to do an even background, and then move closer to do star clusters.

    Spacey,
I clicked on the link for your plates and just realized that 20% of all faceplates in the world are spacey faceplates!!!!
How many years have you been doing this for?

    One.

I started last year when the Elite came out.

I also just had my Ghostbusters plate close on eBay with no bidders at $40. I got an email asking if I'd sell it for less. I told them $30 and they agreed but haven't paid me yet. Then I was at 360achievements.org last night. I ran across a guy who bought one of the first GB plates I made from a friend for $150!

I want to sell one for $150! Not $30! WTF?

On the good side, apparently some people are now considering me an artist.

I have been passing on requests because of all of the irons I have in the fire, but I got one today that I couldn't pass up. I can't tell you more because it's for someone's birthday and I don't want to spoil it.

    Someone big.
