Is Apple's iPad2 a threat to game systems like the 3DS, NGP, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3? Is Apple positioning itself to grab huge swathes of gamers away from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony?

positioning itself? no, because it already has. Not just Apple though. All smart phones and tablet PC's have taken over the casual gaming market and the majority of the mobile gaming market. Its just hard for nintendo to compete with <$5 and free games that the smart phones offer while a new 3DS or DS game is $30+. As far as gaming at home, the consoles still have a lock on that especially with the core gamers.
