Infinity Ward Loses More Staff Members
The long saga of Infinity Ward fallout continues today, as we receive word that two more staff members have left the developer. IGN reports that senior animator Bruce Ferriz has left the studio and joined Big Red Button Entertainment. Meanwhile, Kotaku gives word that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 lead designer Mackey McCandlish left the studio, after having worked there since 2002.
These are just the latest staff changes since Activision sparked an ugly battle by laying off studio heads Jason West and Vince Zampella. Since then weve seen lawsuits, counter-suits, and even a bit of corporate back-biting. The story will continue to develop for quite some time, and it seems that were hearing more details every few days.
We had formerly heard that lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti had left the company, followed shortly by programmer Jon Shiring. Now we can add McCandlish and Ferriz to the list of key Infinity Ward staff that have left the studio. Ferriz is the only former staff member who has publicly announced his next step. It seems likely that at least some of the former staff are planning to join, or will be recruited by, West and Zampellas new studio, Respawn Entertainment.
