No Details On New Bungie Game Until 2011
Contrary to some reports today, Bungie community director Brian Jarrard has told us not to expect any details on the developer’s new game any time soon.
Asked about reports that the studio might be preparing to properly unveil its new franchise at E3 in June, he said:
“I don’t know where that’s come from. I can tell you we’re definitely not showing the game at E3. It’s definitely our intent to make this announcement and return to business as usual and know that we don’t have to worry about our future any more.
“We definitely want to focus on Halo Reach. We have a lot of work to go, and we have the game to get out the door and to support, so you won’t be hearing anything about this project this year. It’s going to be all Reach for us in terms of where our public focus lies.”
Jarrard also admitted that Bungies decision to go multiplatform with its new franchise was a daunting prospect for some of the team.
“… Fortunately we have some of the best engineering talent in the industry, but it definitely helps us knowing that Activision is a partner and has a lot of resources and expertise that can help us evaluate and plan for a what multiplatform universe could look like.
“We’re excited about the prospect of what that means but I’d be lying if some of the guys aren’t a little bit terrified as well. We’re very comfortable and have intimately come to know the Xbox over the last decade and I think the team loves to tackle new challenges and opportunities, but it definitely will be a new step for us.”
