Nintendo talks smack!
The president of Nintendo, Hiroshi Yamauchi recently was talking some smack regarding the XBOX in an interview with Wit Capital. According to Hiroshi "The essence of game design is to develop new types of fun, to constantly strive to raise the bar of perfection. Despite this, software companies keep on making IIs, IIIs, even VIIs, VIIIs and IXs. " (-ed. Uhm....hello?? the Mario series along with the dreaded Donkey Kong anthology rings a bell as to the Nintendo 64s success.)Further along in the interview Hiroshi talks about the loss that Nintendo was awarded by the release of the Sony Playstation a few years back and how Sony achieved this by "surrounding" themselves with software companies and developers and how this is no longer the case.
Then to top it all off Hiroshi took stabs at Microsoft stating that, well heres what he had to say. "There are many people in the industry that know nothing about games. In particular, a large American company is trying to do the same thing by engulfing software houses with money, but I dont believe that will go well. It looks like theyll sell their game system next year, but well see the answer to that the following year. "
