(RUMOR) - Hulu Expanding to Xbox 360
Online TV streaming site Hulu is making plans to expand to devices like the Xbox 360 and iPad, reports Reuters. Sources close to Microsoft and Apple claimed the service will be expanding to the platforms, though were not sure if it will be before or after Hulu begins charging a monthly fee. Hulu has been ad-supported since its inception, but within the next month or two sources claim it plans to start charging $9.95 per month to access older content. The newest episodes of TV shows would remain free.
Were slowly seeing more and more reason to believe this is true. We had already heard that the Hulu application for the Xbox 360 was up and running, but Microsoft was sorting through licensing issues. Now sources claim that Hulu is interested in expanding, possibly alongside its plans to make a profit with a subscription model. Netflix executives made similar comments about potential plans before expanding to other devices as well, and now its available on all three consoles.
If Microsoft is close to closing the deal, we can probably expect to see the announcement as part of its E3 press conference next week. Even if the licensing issues arent completely sorted out, Microsoft could still make the announcement and promise more details at a later date.
