Space Channel 5, Bass Fishing Are Next
Sonic Adventure was re-released last month on both the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, with Crazy Taxi lined up for a release on the two platforms in November. We know more Dreamcast game ports are in the works, and Sega today revealed what the next two will be: Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing.
"The release of these games marks SEGAs ongoing effort to bring its best-sellers from the Dreamcast era to the latest consoles," said Segas digital business VP, Haruki Satomi. "We want to enable a new generation of players to experience some of the most celebrated titles our video game history has to offer, while at the same time appealing to our enthusiastic and much appreciated community of fans."
Bass Fishing might not have been atop many peoples most wanted lists for Dreamcast ports, but Space Channel 5 was a fine game that hasnt really been heard from since it was ported to PlayStation 2 back in 2003. Part 2 was the game where Space Michael, the character voiced by Michael Jackson, does more than just a cameo, as he did in the original Space Channel 5.
Right now, the two re-releases (being referred to by Sega as "digitally re-mastered classics") are being pegged for a release in early 2011. Hopefully Sega will stick to that date so that it wont be too long before the next wave is released -- Shenmue and Jet Grind Radio, anyone?
