Dead Space 2 Demo Set for December 21

If the downloadable prequel to Dead Space 2, Dead Space: Ignition, wasn’t enough (or it just wasn’t for you), Visceral Games has a demo coming in less than two weeks that should help to hold you over until Dead Space 2 is released later next month.
Releasing on Tuesday, December 21, the Dead Space 2 demo will allow players to explore the Church of Unitology while trying out some of the game’s new features and weapons. Those include the Javelin gun, enhanced telekinesis, the new stasis recharge mechanic, and the advanced suit that allows you to move in any direction when the area you’re in lacks gravity.

"The holidays are a great time to enjoy all forms of entertainment, and we can’t wait to give horror and action adventure gamers a taste of what awaits them in Dead Space 2," said Dead Space franchise executive producer Steve Papoutsis. "Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only re-connect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It’s gonna be awesome."

He’s setting expectations quite high. Some gamers have already gotten their hands on the game’s multiplayer mode thanks to a beta that quietly kicked off several months ago on PS3. With Visceral already having ideas for Dead Space 3, it’s certainly hoping that Dead Space 2 is well-enough received when it’s released on January 25 that development on Dead Space 3 can move forward.
