More Alan Wake Coming This Fall
Following a LinkedIn profile showing that some work on Alan Wake 2 had been done as recently as last month, developer Remedy has now confirmed that more Alan Wake is in the works. The caveat is that it isnt Alan Wake 2, nor is it DLC for the original game.
"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming!" reads a Remedy statement sent to Joystiq. "But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC. The rest were saving for our official announcement when well actually SHOW YOU."
The games platforms werent announced, so its possible that this will come to PC, unlike the original, although that might simply be wishful thinking. Remedy has previously said that Microsoft had the option to pick up a sequel, so chances are that the game will end up on a Microsoft platform.
Remedys statement goes on to note the game has been in development "for the last months" by a "slice of our team." It also describes it as "something thatll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this installment will also give an opportunity for players who arent familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board." Perhaps it will be a standalone game that takes place entirely in one of the novels that protagonist Alan Wake has written. Whatever the case might be, judging by the size of the development team and how long it will be in development for, dont expect a game that lasts as long as the first one.
A release date and pricing, like the games platforms, were not revealed, but "fall 2011 is probably a good guess."
