European Launch Pretty Much ConfirmA report from FGN Online confirms that they have been told Xbox will be launching in Europe. "Everything else is rumor and speculation," said Microsoft. Its no news that the Japanese launch has already been delayed to Feb. 22, 2002, which puts down the initial goal to achieve a worldwide launch.
Richard Teversham, U.K. marketing manager for Xbox, said, "We will have hundreds of thousands of Xboxes ready for our European launch in the first quarter of 2002. The Hungary plant has not yet started production but it is built and is in the process of testing. It will not make consoles for North America or Japan, only for the European market. The difference between our competitors and ourselves is that we manufacture in Europe, for Europe, so were not reliant on Japan to supply Europe. We remain absolutely committed to a first-quarter launch."
The media will get more details of the Euro launch at a Microsoft press event and so will you when it occurs in October, courtesy of XboxAddict.
