Job listings point to 343 hiring for Halo MMO

343 Industries first foray into new content in the Halo Universe has been an impressive success. Halo 4 hasn’t even been out for a full month, but already 343 has its eye on the future. New job listings from the developer indicate 343 is readying another Halo title, though this next venture may be a bit more massive than previous offerings.

Two new employment postings at 343 Industries are looking for candidates to assist in "building the next generation of backend services to power Halo 4 and our new game saga." The real standout segment of these new job offerings is in the optional experience portion. There, 343 said it would behoove applicants to have "experience in MMO development." These latest listings come on the heels of another employment opportunity posted last week. In that case, 343 was looking for someone to "lead the creative vision for incubation projects" and assist in "other AAA Halo experiences spanning across the breadth of the studio."

We already know one next generation Halo title is in development at 343, but with a franchise as important to Microsoft’s continued success as Halo, there’s a chance more than one title could be in development at any given time Particularly if that title is an MMO, which often require much more development time than a standard console release. A Halo MMO was in development some years back, but the project fell through after a lengthy development cycle.

What do you think of a potential Halo MMO? Can 343 succeed where others have failed?
