Anti-ripping technology
Xbox DVDs will be going under the knife to prevent pirates and everyone else from ripping, or coping games. Midbar, an Israeli company specializing in copy-protection solutions will be using this anti-ripping technology called Cactus Data Shield to stop game pirates in their tracks.
This technology will be invisible to the gamer and will not hurt the content within the disc. Although in a previous test conducted by Midar who used similar technology on BMGs CDs. It forced the cancellation of a large scale roll-out as consumers complained that their CDs would not play well, if at all, on their CD or DVD players with this copy-protection on them.
