Retailers Want More Cubes
Gamecube: Major U.S. retailers are asking for increased shipments of Gamecube to offset a possible shortfall in supply Xbox, Nintendos Peter Main has said.The executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America has said that major retail chains such as Wal-Mart asked Nintendo this week to increase shipments of its console.
Microsoft has delayed the launch of Xbox by a week and has backed off an earlier commitment to have between 600,000 to 800,000 units available at launch. Nintendo plans to ship at least 700,000 units for Gamecubes Nov. 18. Main said. "Im going to push hard to steal every additional piece I can get from Japan, (though) Im not optimistic at this point," he said.
