(RUMOR) - New Xbox One variant rumors persist, Titanfall-themed console likely
There is a NeoGAF member, ntkrnl, and if half the things he or she is claiming are true, we live in exciting times indeed. In a flurry of posts last night, ntkrnl has dropped countless rumour-bombs as regards Microsoft’s plans for the console across 2015 and beyond. Among the likelier eventualities is the release of a Titanfall-themed Xbox One console, pictured below. Any takers?
According to the source, Microsoft will also release the hitherto employee-only white Xbox One in October, followed by an Xbox One with a one terabyte hard drive in November. Insiders close to the Verge corroborate aspects of this - the white console will indeed launch this year, they claim.
Other rumours passed on by the ntkrnl include the prospect of an Xbox One without a Blu-ray drive (priced at $399.99). The last part chimes with comments made by Microsoft Studios boss in an interview with OXM last year.
"Obviously, after the [Xbox One] announcement and E3, there was some feedback about what people wanted to change," he told us. "There was a real discussion about whether we should have an optical disc drive in Xbox One or if we could get away with a purely disc-less console, but when you start looking at bandwidth and game size, it does create issues."
The Verge claims that Microsoft has, in fact, prototyped a disc-less console. Perhaps we’ll hear more at E3?
As regards the Titanfall console rumour, this seems a pretty safe bet given the existence of a similarly styled Titanfall custom controller, announced last week. Here are some snaps - you may wish to compare and contrast with the leaked images above.
